Shipment of Supplies Sent to Union City, Michigan

There is no Church of Christ in Union City, which was hit by an EF-3 tornado (possibly an EF-4) on Friday March 6th. Our associate director covering Michigan, Dwane Casteel was reaching out to other congregations in the area to see if members were available that could travel to Union City to help unload our shipment of supplies and distribute them to those in need in the area. We received a call from the 20th Street Church of Christ in Battle Creek, MI, that they had been speaking to other congregations in the area too, and they requested a shipment of our supplies. 20th Street, along with members of the Three Rivers Church of Christ in Three Rivers, MI, and members from the Coldwater Church of Christ in Coldwater, MI, will be working together this afternoon when our 53’ trailer full of prepacked boxes of food, personal hygiene, infant care supplies, cleaning supplies, pallets of water, mops, brooms, rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, pallets of water, new pillows, new blankets, new sheet sets, and new clothing will arrive in Union City about 3pm. The Kodet’s True Value Hardware store located at 205 N Broadway St in Union City, is allowing these congregations to use part of their facility as a receiving and distribution center for these supplies to help those in the area affected by the recent tornadoes. We know that Three Rivers, MI was also hit Friday evening, so some of these supplies will be taken to that community also.

Four people lost their lives from these severe storms in southern Michigan Friday night, one was a 12-year-old boy!

We are thankful for the 3 congregations that are wanting to work together to unload and distribute these supplies. They will be traveling from 15 mi to over 30 mi from their home towns to help their neighbors in need. All glory is to God. We pray for all of those affected by the storms, and for all of those helping others.
